How To Progress From Novice Night into Regular Rowing……?

You’ve been coming along to the RTRC Novice Night Rowing and really enjoying it, but now you want to progress your rowing. You might be looking for regular social rowing or more competitive rowing. The RTRC offers Seine Boat Rowing, Gig Rowing, Coastal Rowing and Sculling  but how do you go about getting involved in  The RTRC Regular Rowing?

How To Get into Seine Boat Rowing:

Whether you’re looking at doing more social rowing or creating a team to enter the RTRC Seine Boat Series the club has several Seine Boats available to row and offers a route to progress your Seine Boat rowing!

  • Get together a group of 4 friends or other novice night rowers you have met and speak to the registration team. We can then book you a time slot on a Wednesday evening to get you going.
  • If you become RTRC full Members, £40 for the year, your group can then book a club boat at any time for £5/hr slot.
  • As an RTRC Member to book a club boat go to our website booking page here
  • If you need help finding a cox, speak to the person coxing you on Novice night and ask them if they know of a cox or would help you out. If not speak to the registration team and the club can help you find a cox.
  • Why not experience racing in the Teignmouth and Shaldon Regatta Novice Rowing Races? If you’d like to enter a crew speak to the registration team.

  • For more information or if you are struggling to get a complete crew or cox etc email info@rtrc.co.uk and we will endeavour to assist you as best we can!

How To Get into Gig Rowing:

The RTRC has 2 GRP training Gigs and 3 wooden Cornish Pilot Gigs that are mainly used for CPGA racing events. Whether you want to get into the RTRC Gig Racing crews to participate in Regatta’s or even the Gig World Championships, or just want to do some more social Gig rowing this is how you do it.

  • Gig Rowing in the RTRC is organised by the Gig Section, who 2/3 times a year select Gig crews depending on individuals interests and aims ie social rowing or more competitive etc. Due to only having 2/3 Gigs to row regularly these crews are then allocated slots with a Gig and cox.
  • During the Autumn we also create Gig development crews to get new Gig rowers involved.
  • To participate in Gig development crews or regular crews you need to be a full RTRC Member, you can join here
  • As a general club member you can have 3 Gig development rows before paying the additional £40 required to be a full Gig rower.
  • To register your interest in joining a development crew or regular crew you need to email info@RTRC.co.uk expressing your interest.
  • The next wave of Gig crews will be selected in the Autumn so in the meantime continue to row on novice night! But Register Your Interest Now so if slots become available we will be able to offer them to you!
