RTRC Safeguarding & Child Protection
It is the policy of RTRC to safeguard children, young people & vulnerable adults taking part in rowing from physical, sexual or emotional harm.
All the RTRC club policies, Safeguarding Forms, Handouts etc are available to download at the bottom of this page.
To this end RTRC have adopted the policies, procedures and guidelines available on this page for the following reasons:
- To protect and safeguard children from physical and emotional harm, on or off the water
- To assure parents that their children are as safe at RTRC as they are when taking part in any other sport or leisure activity
- To raise awareness amongst all RTRC members and volunteers so that they know what to do if they are concerned about a child, whether the concern relates to the child’s welfare at RTRC or outside
- To protect volunteer helpers by giving them some practical, common sense guidelines to avoid placing themselves in situations where they are open to allegations which could seriously damage their lives.
- To protect RTRC, by showing we have taken ‘all reasonable steps’ to provide a safe environment.
It is important to remember that although the RTRC, as a club, has taken these steps, Safeguarding children, young people and vulnerable adults is everyone’s responsibility.
Any member of RTRC failing to comply with any club policies (including the Safeguarding & associated policies) or any RTRC Codes of Conduct will be subject to disciplinary action.
